TOPICS
You will first need to select something specific within the period/event to focus on. If Nazi Germany is your category, then you could create a post about any aspect of Nazism: its racial ideology, Nazi propaganda, key leaders in the movement (Hitler, obviously, but also men like Joseph Goebbels), its indoctrination strategies (in schools and in organizations like the Hitlerjugend), its impact on everyday German citizens, the Nuremberg Laws that legalized the persecution of the Jewish community in Germany, etc.
HOW TO GO ABOUT IT
After you choose your topic (and let me know what you're thinking), you need to do some research. Using at least four academic sources, write a blog post in which you teach us something about your subject that will help us understand the way human rights played out in this particular context. You can use images to illustrate, just make sure you include information about where you got them (see my example for documentation), or link to other resources online that reference material you cover. I want you to think of this as a focused historical report, but your vehicle for communication is the blog, so use it. Your post should:
- Describe the person, place, event, or ideology
- Explain the key pieces of information necessary to understand this item
- Support your claims with evidence from your research (examples are especially effective)
- Include at least one image that illustrates something about your item
- Document appropriately (make it clear what is source material and what is your idea)
- Be interesting and educational!
Posts are due no later than class time on the date you signed up for.
